BLU-RAY/DVD Review: 'Creepshow' - Season 2 (2021) | CRPWrites

The five-episode season and bonus episodes A Creepshow Animated Special and A Creepshow Holiday Special from showrunner Greg Nicotero (“The Walking Dead”) star Kevin Dillon (Entourage), Ted Raimi (“Buddy Thunderstruck”), Ali Larter (House On Haunted Hill), C. Thomas Howell (The Amazing Spider-Man), Iman Benson (“Alexa and Katie”), Josh McDermitt (“The Walking Dead”), Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser Franchise), Keith David (21 Bridges), Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Breckin Meyer (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past), Molly Ringwald (“Riverdale”), Eric Edelstein (“Shameless”), Barbara Crampton (Jakob’s Wife), Denise Crosby (“Ray Donovan”), Justin Long (Lady of the Manor), D’Arcy Carden (“The Good Place”), Kiefer Sutherland (“Designated Survivor”), Joey King (The Kissing Booth), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Adam Pally (“Happy Endings”).

Creepshow (1982) remains one of the all time greatest anthology films and a personal favorite of yours truly. So the announcement of the original Shudder series got myself extremely excited - hoping it would be the better put together Twilight Zone we all need for the modern times. Luckily while it does have some lows, it manages to be so unique yet similar to the original stories told in the ‘82 feature film that it feels as though we never finished the comic book.

With seven total episodes this season and a loaded cast, we similarly have some heavy hitters and some that miss the mark but the entire experience is worth the watch. Just a heads up that the worst of the season is the bonus Animated special, the idea behind the segments are solid but without polished animation - it’s an awkward episode that overstays its welcome.

It’s still the most fun you’ll ever have being scared! Following CREEPSHOW Season 1’s Saturn Award 2021 win for Best DVD/BD Television Release comes the second season of CREEPSHOW, the anthology series based on the 1982 horror comedy classic. A comic book comes to life in nine chilling tales told across five episodes. Explore terrors ranging from murder, creatures, monsters and delusions to the supernatural and unexplainable. You never know what will be on the next page….

The Special Features Include:

  • A Creepshow Animated Special

  • A Creepshow Holiday Special

  • WonderCon@Home 2021 Interview with Greg Nicotero

  • Photo Galleries

  • Comic Art Booklet

  • Exclusive Never-Before-Seen Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes

  • Behind-the-Scenes Raw Footage

An added bonus is that the DVD and Blu-ray each have their own reversible sleeve art, so if you get tired of one you can always flip to the next.

With more home runs than strikeouts this season and a plethora of great bonus features for the CREEPSHOW fanatics out there, this one is surely worth a buy for your collection.
