OUR REVIEW:

Floor is Lava has returned for a second season and yes, the floor remains a liquid in which contestants disappear into a mysterious sunken place. For those unfamiliar, three teams of three compete on a Ninja Warrior-esque obstacle course to see how they can make it out safely and in a timely manner. One team is eliminated and the remaining two are sent to a final race to the finish where they must plug up the source of the slippery lava - a towering volcano. With a prize of 10 grand to share amongst the three (3.33 thousand before taxes), the contestants are flailing about with only our entertainment in mind I assume. The issue with having each team tell a story about why they’re playing the game and what the winnings will be helping, is far less appealing when you’re aware of the prize fund.

The host, Rutledge Wood attempts to provide a play by play while supplying lines of inconsistent jokes. If you weren’t a fan of him in the first season - he does not change his approach. One episode in, out of five and there was nothing left to keep me onboard. Floor is Lava has run into a dead end, with a lack of talent required to compete and the absence of a charismatic host; the possibilities for Floor is Lava have officially burned up.
