There’s always been something so captivating about Alejandro Montoya Marín’s directing, and this remains to be the case with his latest short film titled Get It. Barely six minutes long, the film is a fast paced, hypnotic trip as we invest ourselves into the ins and outs of our two mysterious central characters.
The film centers on a mysterious man sitting in his vehicle, antsy with anticipation for his first robbery. As he prepares, a woman approaches the car and welcomes herself inside. The two indulge in a rapid-fire, witty conversation until it must reach its bitter end.
Get It’s immersive dialogue and instant draw into the character’s situation within the barebones plot is something to take great pride in. Get It is a fantastic beginning to something larger, or just a satisfying one off tale. Most importantly, for those unaware of director/writer Alejandro Montoya Marín’s work, Get It serves as a lovely appetizer for more to come.
