A NONSENSE CHRISTMAS
WITH SABRINA CARPENTER
"Pop icon Sabrina Carpenter jingles all the bells in her first ever variety music special."
OUR REVIEW:
From the moment I heard Sabrina Carpenter sing “how you’re looking at me and I know what that means and I’m obsessed”- I have been quite obsessed. That’s because Ms. Carpenter leaves quite an impression. Five feet, to be exact. Don’t even get me started on Espresso. My husband is at his limit with that one. Short N’ Sweet has been on heavy rotation in my head since the Summer. An earwig releasing serotonin directly into my bloodstream. I can’t get enough of this album. So when Netflix announced the premiere of A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, it was a no-brainer for me.
Her 2023 Christmas album “Fruitcake” is definitely the focus during the musical numbers. Covers of classic holiday hits with some very special guests that I won’t spoil here. This family friendly special is just as short and sweet as its host, and makes for a nice holiday gift in lieu of taking out a personal loan for tickets to her show.
The casual fan might not gleam much value beyond the guest performers on pretty sets. Standard holiday variety show fare. But if you know Sabrina, you know she's an absolute hoot. The skits and vintage TV styled transitions made it feel like our very own “Sabrina Night Live”. I am still giggling at her funny little quips like, “I've learned all my blocking, so please stuff my stocking”. It’s a pure sugar rush for Sabrina fans. In its brief 50 minutes, it has heart, humor, and dazzling sets and costumes all wrapped in a pink sparkly bow. Is it that sweet? I’d say so. “The Ho-ho-hoe-iest special of all” is streaming now on Netflix!
