"The adventures of Sam Wing in his youth and Gizmo the Mogwai in China."

From executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tze Chun, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai lays the groundwork to be a fantastic horror beginning for younger viewers as they open their eyes to the wonders that Joe Dante’s 1984 Gremlins brought to the genre. At the heart of Secrets of the Mogwai, Joe Dante’s original narrative strengthens with another round involving a youthful Mr. Wing and his grandfather as they attempt to return the iconic Gizmo to his home.

The series is beautifully animated and reminiscent of the wonderful art style some may associate with the legendary Telltale Games (Back to the Future: The Game). Led by a phenomenal voice cast, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai consists of work done by James Hong (EEAAO), Ming-Na Wen (Mulan), Matthew Rhys (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), BD Wong (Jurassic Park), and many others unleashing a brand new adventure that adds an extra layer of depth to the connection between Gizmo and Mr. Wing. While getting off to a slow start in the premiere, the show has a lot of promise that is seen through to the end. Deeply charming and full of unrelenting cuteness, this series will deliver the nostalgia fans of the original will be craving. Secrets of the Mogwai is through and through aimed at all ages – which means some parts may seem aimed more towards children than their parents.

Nonetheless, this ten episode adventure will leave fans of the original film (and even the wild sequel) delighted; even more so for parents looking for a way to ease their children into the horror genre with one of the greatest creations: Gremlins.
