REINDEER GAMES SYNOPSIS:

After assuming his dead cell-mate's identity to get with the other man's girlfriend, an ex-convict finds himself a reluctant participant in a casino heist.

The trap is set. The game is on.

Red-hot stars Ben Affleck (Changing Lanes) and Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) team up with Gary Sinise (Snake Eyes) in an action-packed Christmas story of high-stakes crime and deception! Upon release from a stint in prison, Rudy (Affleck) impulsively decides to pose as his old cell mate Nick in order to make time with Nick’s beautiful pen pal, Ashley (Theron). But things heat up for Rudy when he’s forced to participate in an armed robbery plot being hatched by her dangerously evil brother (Sinise)! The final theatrical feature film by legendary director John Frankenheimer (The Train, Ronin)—don’t miss this intensely entertaining, sexy, full-throttle movie thrill ride! Also featuring Clarence Williams III (52 Pick-Up), Danny Trejo (Machete), Dennis Farina (Out of Sight) and Isaac Hayes (Truck Turner).

OUR FILM REVIEW

Starring Ben Affleck and Charlize Theron as the leads, and a fine supporting cast of Lieutenant Dan himself, Gary Sinise, Donal Logue, Danny Trejo, and Clarence Williams III. As a lover of Ben Affleck’s career, Reindeer Games is a holiday heist that completely passed me over. Now after watching it’s a fascinating watch full of twists and turns to an exaggerated degree. Included are both the Director's Cut and the Theatrical, however the theatrical is the only upgraded cut. Kino Lorber provided a brand new 4K scan of the original camera negative. While the Director’s Cut allows slightly more time exploring the characters’ motivations and makes for a more satisfying overall experience, the best visual / audio experience is easily with the Theatrical cut of the film.

Receiving both negative reception from audiences and critics alike, this is one Christmas heist most likely not worth spending time with over the holidays. It launches with a solid first act before striking out with a gigantic swing and a miss - all leading up to an explosive finale that unfortunately lands with a thud.
