Shrinking, from Ted Lasso’s Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein in company with Jason Segel, delivers a flawless season of television. Apple TV+ has a surefire hit on their hands. Each cast member gives a phenomenal performance, highlighted by a career high from Segel combined with Harrison Ford like we’ve never seen him before.

The show understands human interactions, emotions, and the art of character development. Shrinking is set as a comedy, garnished with deep relatable emotions and grief that make it into a beautiful dramedy. From beginning to end, you evolve with these characters and learn lessons alongside them. If not for the powerful writing abilities from Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence, this show won’t feel even close to as wholehearted as it does right now.

 

Shrinking is without a doubt a 2023 must-watch and a reason to instantly subscribe to Apple TV+ (if Ted Lasso wasn’t already reason enough). Here’s hoping for a long future ahead, as this season will be over before anyone knows it, and you’ll be left with the craving for more as “our time is up for now.”
