'YOU'LL BE LAUGHING FROM THE FIRST SHOT ... AND YOU'RE UNLIKELY TO STOP UNTIL THE CREDITS ROLL. STRANGERS IS COMIC BRILLIANCE THAT WORKS ON EACH OF ITS MYRIAD UN-PC LEVELS.' – Nylon

Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris, Theater Camp, The Mandalorian) is a 47-year-old ex-con who returns to her childhood home after spending 32 years working the streets and in prison. Upon her arrival, she discovers her father is in a self-induced coma. Hoping to wake him, Jerri decides to turn her life around by picking it up exactly where she left off — as a high school freshman. But for a former boozer, user, and loser, hanging with the 'in' crowd is going to be harder than turning tricks!

OUR FILM REVIEW

Strangers With Candy is based on a 1999 television series that ran for three seasons - it's a surreal satire that pokes fun at after school specials. This film serves as a prequel...

With a brand NEW 4K Transfer From The 35mm Interpositive, the film looks better than ever. Previously only released on DVD, this is a massive improvement on the video quality alone. Although admittedly the film has a gritty, dirty lens that makes it purposefully unpleasant to look at. The sound is benefitted here, although as with most comedies - the audio can only be assisted so far - all with a 5.1 surround and lossless 2.0 audio.

The film holds a mixed reception among general audiences and critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but as with all comedy it's subjective. Fans of the 90s series will absolutely fall for this bizarre prequel and for those unfamiliar with the show, this could be a great lead-in.

The inclusion of an audio commentary with three of the actors and three other special features are yet another reason to spend more time with the feature and rewatch it in a new perspective with each repeated viewing.
