OUR REVIEW:

The opening episode for Hulu's new series Wedding Season (not to be confused with the Netflix film of the same name) is not anything worth vowing to follow until the very end.

Stefan is a hopeless mess of a guy. He objects to the wedding of the woman he likes, Katie, to which she tells him off. Now he's being carted off into police questioning the very next day where he is told the bride's in-laws have been poisoned to death and she has been missing since the reception. Oh, and he is the number one suspect. Confused and unsettled, he starts explaining the first day he met her. It was a different wedding where he unsuccessfully proposed to his ex-girlfriend in front of everyone even after his friends told him it was rude. When he meets Katie on the dancefloor, she has a phone in her hands that Stefan realizes belongs to a guy that's been walking around asking if anyone has seen his phone. He keeps quiet because he wants in on whatever game she’s playing. The rest of the episode is Stefan rehashing his summer, trying his best to be honest with the cops, which leads them into deeper suspicions.

The episode ends with Stefan running to the roof of the police department to Katie, standing on the roof of the next door building asking him to run away with her and he (literally) takes the leap. *eye roll*

This show is a little too unfunny for my taste. I can see what they're trying to do but it's not working. I care far more about the side characters than Katie and Stefan. Their group of friends are really clever and pleasant. K and S are obviously set up to be the anti-heroes, but I still don't care what happens to them. I don't feel like sticking around long enough to find out if Katie is innocent, seeing as how she gives off terrible vibes. And to be frank, I wouldn't be upset if something bad happened to Stefan because he had it coming.

Honestly, the last time I was this stressed out watching a show was The Flight Attendant, which is what this show seems to emulate.

If you like cat and mouse type shows, this will be perfect for you. There are only 8 episodes and each runs about 35 minutes. All episodes are now streaming on Hulu!
