OUR MOVIE REVIEW:

As we grow older, the harsh reality is that it becomes a bit more difficult to make friends. So, Andrew DeYoung delivers us a film about men in their early to mid 40s trying to become friends and it ruins both of their lives. In Friendship, Craig befriends Austin, a local weatherman, during a package mix up in the mail. What ensues is a domino effect of hilarity and chaos as you watch these two spiral down with each other. I Think You Should Leave series creator Tim Robinson leads the film as Craig and with Paul Rudd as Austin. Seeing these two worlds collide, creates one of the funniest comedy films in recent years.

Knowing Robinson’s sense of humor, you know exactly what to expect out of Friendship. Fans of shows Detroiters and I Think You Should Leave will be right at home with the film's comedy, and even those unfamiliar, DeYoung and Robinson brew up the perfect storm of non-stop laughs. DeYoung’s film highlights and ponders on awkward situations that arrive with attempting to make friends, especially in adulthood, and stretches it to hilarious extremes. However, my favorite laughs out of this film were from small blink-and-you-miss-it visual jokes that to me were some of the biggest laughs out of me. I still find myself giggling everytime I think about this film.

With a catalog of directing mostly comedic television, DeYoung’s debut film feels almost effortless in making you laugh. Of course there’s Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd to help with the jokes, but some of the situations DeYoung puts these characters in is some of the most insane and hilarious sequences I’ve seen all year in film, and it's difficult to think there’s going to be a comedy film this year as funny as this. It’s hard to talk about this film without revealing some of the wild sequences this film has, but it’s no doubt that this will make your sides hurt from laughing through all one hundred minutes.
