Genre: Drama. Horror. Short.
Director: Lee Lawson.
The Verdict: A Must-See

Director Lee Lawson’s 12-minute body horror short packs quite an existential punch in
its minimal runtime. Freddie, played by the often enigmatic Julian Richings, is at the end
of his life, stricken with a terminal illness, sending him to find solace and peace before
he shakes off his mortal coil. He books an evening with Kitty (Grace Glowicki in a baring
performance), a prostitute who embodies all the right parts a customer desires, just not
in the usual places.
Revealing where this short film goes would be a great disservice, as Lawson’s vignette
has earned the right to knock the audience's jaws off. This story suggests that we ought
to live, and die, on our own terms. Freddie comes to Kitty for a release, but not the
typical explosive expectation. Instead, Freddie puts his faith in Kitty to provide passage
to a utopia he can only live through once, and with that trust and safety, he can
embrace his destiny.
The initial shock of this film’s set-up slowly wanes, but where it takes you is where you
cannot look away. You have been warned, but something tells me you will leave
satisfied.
