The Verdict: A Must-See

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a bloody good time at the cinema, removing some of the staples of the original film such as the claustrophobic mansion layout to now a country club with wide open areas to hide in. It’s brighter, less gothic but the exploding heart of the series persists.
Samara Weaving takes up her role of Grace quite literally where the first film concludes and it’s as if she didn’t skip a beat. The inclusion of Kathryn Newton as her sister was a perfect casting decision as they act like sisters through and through; from the bickering to the concealed and authentic love for one another through the tough times of their lives.
The cast is loaded with personality yet again with so many villainous highlights throughout their hunt. The performances are often overzealous, but their caricature depiction of evil really compliments the story we’re tagging along for. Elijah Wood as a neutral sharp dressed lawyer is genuinely one of the film’s biggest delights (which are plentiful).
While the narrative may feel a tad repetitive, it takes the sequel formula of bigger and bolder and certainly takes that into effect. More characters, more evil, more comedy, and way more blood than you’d ever expect. The sharp shift in tone may be a departure from what made the original so captivating, but the film we received is a literal blood soaked blast that will be a favorite for gorehounds out there.
