THE "IMDB" PREMISE:

OUR MOVIE REVIEW:

Watcher is an immersive slow burn thriller with Maika Monroe taking center stage. Monroe is no stranger to being involved with remarkable horror/thrillers: The Guest and It Follows being her most notable and Watcher is no different. With anxiety inducing scenes of Monroe’s Julia being stalked relentlessly from across apartment complexes, to the grocery store to even the subway. Her stalker is blurred for a majority of the film but her suspect played by Burn Gorman feeds on her paranoia as the people closest to her neglect her fears.

I must admit however that for a 91 minute feature film, it did start to drag its feet for a scene or two with numerous scenes focusing on her husband’s denial. When the stalker element is brought full circle and brought to a satisfying conclusion – I was blown away and had the desire to go right back in and watch this woman’s frightening journey in a country she is becoming accustomed to.

For fans of the eerie and the tense, Watcher may be exactly what you’re looking for and the small refined details of this man’s own narrative that happen to have Julia right in the center of makes for an even more exhilarating experience especially with such a warranted conclusion that we received.
